Finding Legitimate Work from Home Careers with No Scams or Money Required
55The Exhausting Search
Finding a legitmate work at home job is far more challanging than looking for a normal 9-5. As we all know finding the 9-5 is not that forthcoming either. Many of you may already know the best ways to make money at home, but for a novice it is a tideous and discouraging task.
Many of us become complacent in our current postions, wether they be a positive or negative situation. My work environment was one beyond negative, one would maybe label it a hostile work environment for all--excluding top management. I was not aware of the toll it was taking until I recently gave birth to our three month old son. These past months have reminded me of the happiness I once felt prior to the office I joined four years ago.
My goal...a new career. I did an extensive job search, applying to over 200 current postions in the surrounding area. I then thought deeper and realized life would be perfect if I could work from home--should be an easy thing to do right? The furthest from the truth...
I started with a normal google search, which landed me on many pay for sites, wanting money before they would disclose the wonderful job opportunities for stay at home moms. Thankfully we are broke so I was not able to give the money I do not have to those who want to take from innocent people looking for an honest career.
I found out a mutual friend works for LIveOps, that is when the real search began. In order to find the legitamate jobs I just needed one to search to find the others. I felt like I just struck oil! After weeks of tiring research and much wasted time I found that most at home careers were paying $9.50-$11 per hour. That would be great if I did not have daycare to think about. So long story kind of short...I found:
LiveOps-pay $9.50/hour-Not hiring at this time
AlpineAccess-received an interview and postion but only paid $9.50/hour. Very easy process and nice representatives.
Arise-requires money upfront
VOT-work as a contractor (money out of pocket)
MTurk- spent four hours to make $3.50
West at Home- work as an employee no money upfront, applied a month ago...have not heard anything
Key for Cash- you take a typing test, I received a 99%, have not heard anything. I have heard it is hard due to demand.
Opinion Outpost- pays you for surveys, so far $1...
Project Payday- took 6 hours to make $11...
Okay...so you get the point. If you guys heard of it I have probably tried it and can tell you my experience. I basically found nothing that will replace my current income, nor supplement enough to stay home and not pay for daycare.
Also, I have had numerous emails and phone calls since my search. They are all bogus ways to make money from home. The worst was a job I applied for on Craigslist that seemed to be the dream job for me! I was so excited to receive the email that I was chosen for the postion...wait a minute...no interview, no phone call. the website looks a little fishy, oh and now all they need is my checking account number to pay me! I was so sad and disappointed that day.
However, received a position yesterday in the current field I am in now. Actually less pay, but a much better environment. My quest is not over! I will not be beaten...There has got to be a way that normal people can afford to have a family and enjoy time with them as well.
Well this is my first blog, thanks to anyone who took the time to read! Has anyone else had a better experience finding legitimate online work?

Perfect idea for a hubpages! You have sort of saved my life, as I too have been contacted by scams & bogus jobs! I checked out craigslist the other day and they too were asking me for my ss# and credit card numbers etc to verify my identity! Talk about disturbing & dissapointing to the max. I'll consider these options you listed. I am in dire need of an online job. Let me know if you find anything else please!
