Finding Legitimate Work from Home Careers with No Scams or Money Required

The Exhausting Search

Finding a legitmate work at home job is far more challanging than looking for a normal 9-5. As we all know finding the 9-5 is not that forthcoming either. Many of you may already know the best ways to make money at home, but for a novice it is a tideous and discouraging task.

Many of us become complacent in our current postions, wether they be a positive or negative situation. My work environment was one beyond negative, one would maybe label it a hostile work environment for all--excluding top management. I was not aware of the toll it was taking until I recently gave birth to our three month old son. These past months have reminded me of the happiness I once felt prior to the office I joined four years ago.

My goal...a new career. I did an extensive job search, applying to over 200 current postions in the surrounding area. I then thought deeper and realized life would be perfect if I could work from home--should be an easy thing to do right? The furthest from the truth...

I started with a normal google search, which landed me on many pay for sites, wanting money before they would disclose the wonderful job opportunities for stay at home moms. Thankfully we are broke so I was not able to give the money I do not have to those who want to take from innocent people looking for an honest career.

I found out a mutual friend works for LIveOps, that is when the real search began. In order to find the legitamate jobs I just needed one to search to find the others. I felt like I just struck oil! After weeks of tiring research and much wasted time I found that most at home careers were paying $9.50-$11 per hour. That would be great if I did not have daycare to think about. So long story kind of short...I found:

LiveOps-pay $9.50/hour-Not hiring at this time

AlpineAccess-received an interview and postion but only paid $9.50/hour. Very easy process and nice representatives.

Arise-requires money upfront

VOT-work as a contractor (money out of pocket)

MTurk- spent four hours to make $3.50

West at Home- work as an employee no money upfront, applied a month ago...have not heard anything

Key for Cash- you take a typing test, I received a 99%, have not heard anything. I have heard it is hard due to demand.

Opinion Outpost- pays you for surveys, so far $1...

Project Payday- took 6 hours to make $11...

Okay...so you get the point. If you guys heard of it I have probably tried it and can tell you my experience. I basically found nothing that will replace my current income, nor supplement enough to stay home and not pay for daycare.

Also, I have had numerous emails and phone calls since my search. They are all bogus ways to make money from home. The worst was a job I applied for on Craigslist that seemed to be the dream job for me! I was so excited to receive the email that I was chosen for the postion...wait a minute...no interview, no phone call. the website looks a little fishy, oh and now all they need is my checking account number to pay me! I was so sad and disappointed that day.

However, received a position yesterday in the current field I am in now. Actually less pay, but a much better environment. My quest is not over! I will not be beaten...There has got to be a way that normal people can afford to have a family and enjoy time with them as well.

Well this is my first blog, thanks to anyone who took the time to read! Has anyone else had a better experience finding legitimate online work?

Perfect idea for a hubpages! You have sort of saved my life, as I too have been contacted by scams & bogus jobs! I checked out craigslist the other day and they too were asking me for my ss# and credit card numbers etc to verify my identity! Talk about disturbing & dissapointing to the max. I'll consider these options you listed. I am in dire need of an online job. Let me know if you find anything else please!

I am so sorry that happened to you! It really is discouraging and dissappointing to know that others will go to any length to make a buck. Do not give up though, I believe if you have a desire then you will succeed! I know that 1 800 contacts and 1 800 flowers hire at around 9 an hour. I am not sure if you have to live in a certain state though. I am also going to research BlueZebra next, I have heard you are an employee and they pay 15-20/hour.... If you can become an independent contractor and work for a couple of the companies I think that looks like the best opportunity. For me it is too much out of pocket at this time. Goodluck and I will keep you posted!

**Update**

I applied for a position on Craigslist this morning...think I would learn. This is the email I just received:

I would like to take this moment to thank you for your response to our Craigslist job posting, as well as inform you that, after reading through your resume, we are interested in discussing this job opportunity with you in person. As of this moment, we have narrowed the field down to 3 potential candidates, yourself being one of them.

I would like to congratulate you in making it to the next step of our hiring process. As part of our company's policy, and to protect our company from liabilities and potential issues, the next step of the hiring process includes getting your credit score checked. Please be aware, that a poor score in no way disqualifies you from the position, but simply helps us to get a better understanding of you, and what we can expect from you as an employee.

So we have arranged a FREE service at www.creditreport.com for you to obtain your score. Once you have completed this process, please email me the confirmation # ASAP, so we can move forward. Do NOT include your SSN or any private information in any emails. Please perform this step as soon as you can, as we would like to fill the position soon. Once we receive confirmation that you have completed this step, myself or Mr. Levy, our office manager, will get back to you to set up the face to face interview.

Again, thank you for your interest, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Katie Fernandez

Hiring Manager

Cornwall Investments Inc.

This is a complete scam!!!Please stay away from anyone requiring any information about you other than what is listed on your resume. Once again, no phone call...interesting.

This was my response:

Thank you Katie for the wonderful opportunity of being scammed. It is such a shame that people like you are given the privilege to live another day to take from innocent people. Such a shame to prey on those that are honest and hard working when all you are is working hard to screw their lives. I am so ashamed to be in the same human race as you. I am sure you make too much money to quit what you are doing, too bad you were not given a conscience at birth. Please leave me alone and think hard about what you are doing, many believe there is a life after this one....how will you be living?

So...guess I was a little upset, perhaps should not have replied:)

Sorry to hear about the scams. I have had four more since posting! Some wanting my social others wanting me to accept packages for them. So far they have all been for Admin or Customer Service Rep jobs paying 18-22, so I have stopped replying to anything looking familar. That stinks about your pc. Here is the address for Blue Zebra http://www.bluezebraappointmentsetting.com/Careers I do not know how to make it a link, but you can just copy and paste it. I was approved with alpine but it is not going to work with the little one, the hours are not as flexible as I need. I have found many more sites and hope to have an update hub this weekend. I was not able to pursue as many as I wanted though....However, always moving forward!!! Goodluck! I will post some new things soon once I can try them out:)
